Miami’s South Beach is a pleasure-seeker's heaven. Period. Restaurants and sidewalk eateries offer everything from French to Vietnamese, and Cuban to Colombian. By day, watch the passing parade of burnished bodies from a palm-dotted beach or street café. With frequent photo and film shoots, you may well spot a famous movie star or model.
For sightseeing of a different nature, there are glass-bottom boat tours of Biscayne National Park, an 80,000-acre sanctuary for sea life and water birds. If you prefer to get your feet wet, there’s plenty of snorkelling and diving to be enjoyed.
Looking for an adrenaline rush? No worries. Try parasailing and kayaking. Deep-sea fishing is a popular and growing sport – charter a boat and head into the Big Blue.
On terra firma, a walking tour of the famous art deco historic district, cut in two by Ocean Drive, is a must. For shopping, try the open-air Lincoln Road Mall with a range of shops, art galleries and eateries. For big-name brands and luxury goods, seek out the Bal Harbour Shops on Collins Avenue.
The culturally inclined can check out the Miami-Dade Cultural Center, home to the Miami Art Museum, the Historical Museum of Southern Florida and the Miami-Dade Public Library.
South Beach is perhaps best known for is its pulsating nightlife and no visit is complete without an evening of clubbing with Miami’s beautiful people or taking in a live concert.
